When a Phase I site assessment indicates the possibility of site contamination it is
often necessary to proceed to a Phase II site investigation.

Phase II investigations involve invasive observations and often sampling.  These include:
  • Subsurface drilling with soil/groundwater analysis
  • Surface soil and water sampling and analysis
  • Asbestos sampling & testing
  • Waste drum characterization and sampling/testing
  • Sampling/testing of debris and residue

Lakeland Environmental designs and conducts Phase II site investigations using qualified
and cost-effective local talent for drilling-type operations.  All work is overseen and
managed by our own geologists or environmental scientists who perform field screening,
sampling, and gathering of appropriate site metrics.
Phase II Site Investigations
COST

Phase II investigations vary widely in price.  The cost of a Phase II depends on several
factors including:

  • site size, configuration, and location
  • surface conditions (pavements, buildings, slopes, etc.)
  • specific client requirements

For example, a typical petroleum-type investigation on a small property may cost $10,000
to $15,000.

Larger sites or sites with multiple contaminants will typically cost more.
